Multiple Lightning Strikes in Vienna
This is an old blog post from the time when I still used a DSLR. As this is now and iPhone only photo blog, I keep it online for nostalgic purpose.
After some unsuccessful attempts to photograph lightning I was lucky during a really heavy thunderstorm. This photo shows three lighting strikes within a short period of time.
To capture lighting you need to lengthen the shutter speed: Turn ISO down as low as possible and close the aperture by setting it to the highest number possible, like e.g. f22. This way I was able to get an exposure time of 30 seconds at night.
To prevent blurry photos I used a two second self-timer and enabled mirror lockup.
