The 1 hour hike to Svartifoss Waterfall in Iceland

Not all of Iceland's breathtaking attractions are easy to reach. To get to Svartifoss waterfall, you need to hike one hour. It's an easy hike, slightly uphill at the beginning, but you'll be rewarded with stunning views, not only as you approach Svartifoss waterfall.

There's no road to the waterfall; point your navigation system to Skaftafell national park and park your car there. Then, looking towards the sign below, the path to the waterfall is on the left, past the campsite, marked by a small sign.

As you hike up hill, turn around a few times and enjoy the stunning view of the small canyon that the river created and the wide landscape of the area.

Be sure to bring enough water and snacks for your hike, especially if you arrive early morning when the shops are still closed.

On my hike back from Svartifoss I met Dave and Deb from the U.S. We had a nice conversation about traveling and exchanged some travel tips. If you ever read this, thanks for the travel tips for my upcoming trip to the U.S.
