Castle Liechtenstein belonged to the prince of Liechtenstein who had it built during the 12th century. The principality Liechtenstein has its name from the owners of this castle. Oddly, the castle is located in Lower Austria and not in Lichtenstein.
I wouldn’t have made this photo if I had not decided to walk the extra mile leaving the beaten path.
The photo is a 3 image HDR, created with Photomatix 5 Photomatix Homepage. I started with the “Painterly 2” preset and reduced strength to about 75; then I set lighting adjustment to medium to soften some shadows. In Apple Aperture [[OSX App Store Link]] (http://geni.us/appleaperture) I used the recovery and highlights adjustments to correct the blown out clouds.
